Does anyone want a job in the Wesley College kitchen? Two shifts; 6000-1430 or 1730-2030. Work is easy, and you're basically guaranteed to get the job as soon as they realise that you can speak English and aren't retarded.

So I finally got around to watching I Am Legend. I was so impressed!! I expected it to suck. But it didn't!!! At least, I thought so. I really liked the ending, because it wasn't the typical "everyone wins" Hollywood ending. It was cool. A lot of it was very strange. A lot of it was very clever. A lot of it was pretty damn freaky...not that I had to watch it with the lights on or anything

I want to watch it again! After I've sorted out all these form I need to fill out. I never knew getting a job killed so many trees!! I should have got a job at CALM or something to counteract it!

So Mum's friend's boyfriend severed (or almost severed) his arm with a chainsaw. Mum said that if it was his girlfriend she'd send flowers, but you can't really send flowers to a guy, so she thought maybe some chocolate and beer and a movie to watch while he's recovering.
I hope he hasn't seen (or enjoyed enough to watch again) Texas Chainsaw Massacre :P

Every year, the curriculum council sends out a list of topics the school can choose to teach its students. We got Australian Art 1960s onward, and Modern Design. For the exam, however, the curriculum council just writes one exam for all the schools, no matter what the kids got taught, so we get the questions for all of the topics.
Last year, we learnt nothing but Australian Art, and this year we learnt nothing but Modern Design, and so for the mocks, I decided to study Modern Design, and lo and behold! the exam is 100% about Australian Art! So for the TEE I decided to study mostly Australian Art, and what's this? A Modern Design question? And what a stupid question it is!
"Discuss the principles that the Bauhaus fostered. In your discussion, describe what is 'modern' about Bauhaus design. Refer to specific works of at least two artists, designers or architects selected from the following list: Walter Gropius, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Anni Albers, Le Corbusier, Miles van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer"
Ok, so even the study I did for Modern Design for the mocks wouldn't have helped me there. I read almost the entire book that was given to us, and did all of the assignments (which included about four essays among other activities requiring lots of research). So, stubborn little me went through the rest of the book and found one I could answer
"Compare and contrast the works of at least two of the following artists: Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Joan Miro and Meret Oppenheim. Discuss the materials and techniques used by these artists. What is it that makes their work surrealistic?"
Now I just hope my teacher doesn't find out that I answered the Dada and Surrealism question, because I couldn't do the one we'd actually learnt about :S

I found a dollar today, and figured I could either spend it on a cinnamon doughnut, or a $1 scratchy. Three guesses what I did.
Turns out I won $4 and bought an iced person shaped doughnut with sprinkles and smarties on it!! Go me!!
Odd...I won on a scratchy yesterday too.

So I saw an ad for Riverview ages ago on the TV and it had a song in it and I asked Josh what song it was, but he seemed pretty determined that it wasn't actually a song, and I was all like "yeah it is it goes like this **plays on piano** and the words might be something like this **sings song** and it IS a song!!!" and he's like "no. no it's not" And I couldn't find it on the internet at all, so I figured I'd leave it for the moment.
So last night the ad came on again, and I said to Dad "that's a song, isn't it?" and he was like "yeah, Falling at Your Feet by Mark Cullen"
Josh got woken by the sound of defeat this morning!!

Well, today was my last ever full day of school. It's kinda sad. I never thought I'd feel any kind of emotion at this point. I didn't on my last day of primary school. I hated every second of primary school; there was nothing to miss. But high school has actually been fun!
My maths teacher gave us each a certificate, which corresponds to a specific shop in Garden City (where she spent most of her time during our exams). For example, Cameron is always talking about what went wrong with his car on the weekend, so he got the RAC award. Damien slept through just about every lesson this year, so he got the Slumber King Award, or whatever it was. When she got to me, she said that it was the easiest to pick, because it was so obvious and it was the first one she did. I was so expecting it to be the Reject Shop, because I never talk to anyone in maths. But no! I got the "Godfrey's Cleaners Award, For the most impeccable tidiness in class work, folders, bags and locker." I never even thought of that ! The first time she looked in my locker she pretended to faint and said "this school should have a 'neatest locker award'! You'd win without competition." Also, the fact that all my work and subjects ad folders were (for a while) colour and alphabetically ordered (art = blue, biology = green, English = yellow, French = orange, Maths = red...in the order of the colour wheel and alphabet). Also, I have a filing cabinet in my bag, which never leaves it. I never thought about it being particularly tidy, or anything.
Well, here's to another chapter in my life. Cheers!

So there I was, yet again failing at my attempt to sleep, and, 3:10am, I hear a huge crashing sort of sound. I looked out my window and saw a car driving away from our verge. I was all "stupid idiot. Dad's not going to like the tyre marks on the lawn" and then I realised that there had been a long thin white thing underneath it. Of course, I had to find out what had happened, but my parents were outside by the time I managed to get down. The white thing was the plank of wood that had been holding up one of our verge trees. Then I noticed the other tree...or lack of.
Turns out someone had driven along the entire street on the verge, knocking down half the trees. Our tree had been there for about five years, so it was the only one that didn't survive. All the other ones were brand new and young enough to just spring back up. Kind of sad. Five years, and our trees were just starting to look nice. At least they destroyed the straggly looking one. But I just don't understand. I don't see why they did it. Mum seems to think they were drunk or on drugs, but maybe I don't know enough about drugs and alcohol, because it still doesn't seem to make sense to me. The car looked old, but thinking about it now, it would have had to have been, or it wouldn't have survived the first tree

So the kettle broke. Again. But (for probably the seventh time) it broke within warranty, so we just exchanged it for a new one. We got to Target in Vic Park and the people were so rude !! when they eventually decided to serve us, they weren't particularly nice about it. They told us to go get a replacement, but the only one we could find was broken (go figure) so we asked them to phone Carousel to see if they had any. The woman tried to get out of it, but we were like "it's a phone call. It's not that hard." She handed mum a sheet of paper with a barcode and $13.50 written at the top. We didn't know what it was, and the woman didn't say anything so mum shoved it in her handbag and we went to Carousel.
When we got there, they gave us a brand new shiny red kettle, and a piece of paper with a barcode and $13.50 written at the top. The lady was like "this is a store credit because the price of the kettle has gone down since you bought yours.
Then as we were leaving mum realised that they'd given her the discount twice. woot !
Also, the other day, I decided to phone waapa because I was getting conflicting information about the course I was doing. Waapa had said that I needed a tisc application, but when I went to tisc they were like "select the course you're doing" and it wasn't there. So the guy answered the phone and I said "I want to do the Bachelor for Production and Design and I was hoping you could help me with a bit of trouble I'm having" and the guy was like "Yep, sure, but first let me give you the bad news. We've scrapped that course"
But the good thing about that is that they're ignoring the late fee :)

Does anyone want a perfectly good **cough cough** toaster ? I need to get rid of it before I throw it at the wall the next time it burns half of my crumpet while leaving the other half stone cold and then refuses to give it back to me. I may electrocute myself trying to chainsaw it into little pieces in a fit of rage.

Anyway, I tried to solve it so I could give it to him already done, but it was hopeless, so I handed it to Josh. After what felt like an hour (though probably wasn't), he gave it back, angrily telling me he'd given up. I thought it was hilarious that he gave it to me three moves from solved. He didn't seem to find it quite so funny for some reason
